Weird feeling whenim running?

I run Cross Country and i keep having this weird feeling when I%26#039;m running. i loose feeling in all my body except my head and my strides get really long and i start going faster with out knowing it. it feels really good it lasts for about a mile (bout five-6 minutes). Afterwards i feel dead tired even more than i do after a regular race. I also feel like my shoes are out of mileage but i just got them a month ago. Does anyone know what is happening and why this happens. it%26#039;s really scaring me, but it is kind of an addictive feeling (i like it allllllllot)!

Weird feeling whenim running?
it is most likely you are experiencing a %26quot;runners high%26quot;.

Another widely publicized effect of endorphin production is the so-called %26quot;runner%26#039;s high%26quot;, which is said to occur when strenuous exercise takes a person over a threshold that activates endorphin production. Endorphins are released during long, continuous workouts, when the level of intensity is between moderate and high, and breathing is difficult. This also corresponds with the time that muscles use up their stored glycogen and begin functioning with only oxygen. Workouts that are most likely to produce endorphins include running, swimming, cross-country skiing, long distance rowing, bicycling, weight lifting, aerobics, or playing a sport such as basketball, soccer, or football.

What is an endorphin???

Endorphins are endogenous opioid biochemical compounds. They are polypeptides produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a sense of well-being. In other words, they might work as %26quot;natural pain killers.%26quot;
