Does the weight/heel of a shoe make a difference?

I have to chose between two shoes to wear when I do this relay race thing my school is doing. One of them is a converse-type shoe, and it is LIGHT, and has NO heel. The other is a reebok, and it%26#039;s a bit heavier, and has around a 2cm heel.

I%26#039;m scared of falling down and I know that the one with no heel will minimize my chances of falling down, but I also want to be faster, and for some reason (I don%26#039;t know why), I feel like I%26#039;m faster in my Reebok ones. I really don%26#039;t know why. Maybe because it has a bit of a heel, so my stride got longer or something, lol?

Which should I wear? I%26#039;m freaking out here, please help me!!! Thanks in advance, all answers would be appreciated.

Does the weight/heel of a shoe make a difference?
You%26#039;ve already asked this question. This is a one time race, just wear whatever you have that you think is best. Both shoes you have are not running shoes, so niether of them are the best for you.

How about this, just wear the ones with no heal.
Reply:Neither of the shoes that you listed are actual running shoes, but since it%26#039;s only one race, then it could work, but your performance won%26#039;t be as well. It%26#039;s usually based on personal preference about the weight, but definitly do the one with the heel! Hope I helped! :)
Reply:When you run you want to run on the balls of your feet but if you are running any distance over 400 meters you want a heel on your shoes in that you will land on your heels and roll up towards the balls of your feet to push off. This ensures a certain pace and determines your stride. A heel would be best unless you are just sprinting and then its really up to you. I know it sounds funny but for short distances the more uncomfortable the better the shoe is. If it is for distance though you are going to want a heel. Good luck with running, and I hope this was of some help to you.
