Middle distance track training shoe?

I run middle distance for track (800m specifically) and I am looking for a shoe for training ie. track workouts and running in the street and possibly the treadmill. For my races I use my track spikes but for training I know NOT to use those shoes. I like Nike running shoes and have been a big fan of those for some time. What shoes can you reccommend for a guy like me?

Middle distance track training shoe?
Nike%26#039;s crap for trainers. That%26#039;s been my experience anyway so I can%26#039;t speak for others. I always found that they broke down a lot quicker than other brands. You%26#039;re going to get injured running in those. Their spikes and clothes are very nice though. If Nike is what works best for you then by all means buy Nike. All I know is that I and all the other serious runners in my area don%26#039;t wear Nike for training.

Try Asics, Brooks, or Mizuno. Brooks Adrenaline GTS is where it%26#039;s at. It%26#039;s what I%26#039;ve been running in for the last 10 years. I go trail running in the mountains with them and they hold up very well when I%26#039;m speeding downhill. Brooks clothes are also better than Nike%26#039;s in my opinion. Less gimicky and better looking. Go to a good local specialty running store and try some on.

I don%26#039;t mean to dismiss his accomplishment but if the NCAA champ poster is really a college runner 1:49 is a pretty slow time for an NCAA D1 champ so I%26#039;m a little skeptical. He must be an NCAA Division 3 Indoor champ. That%26#039;d still be a pretty cool though.
Reply:First and foremost, the shoe must fit the runner in every aspect, not the runner fitting the shoe. Shoes must be comfortable to the runner but also provide the support for the body type, foot type (high, low, or mid arch), and even the leg type. I would suggest going to a specialty store where they know what they are doing, i.e. fleet feet, so that you can be fitted into the right shoe for your overall body type and specifics mentioned aboved.
Reply:I have always trained in Nike%26#039;s and find that a slightly heavier training shoe works best for me. I use the Nike Airmax, Nike Tailwinds, or Nike Triax.

My racing spikes are Nike Zoom Shifts
Reply:I congratulate the NCAA champ no disrespect. What is the definition of the best shoe? who knows bill bowerman ex coach at oregon designed shoes that we light and made exclusively for ones foot. with that being stated you can find the lighest shoe on the market for mid distance(nike milers(4.8 ouces)) or the most comfortable( your own judgement) since you like nike go to a athletic store and try some on or find a running store in your area where they can diagnos your feet as flat footed, normal or high arch foot. then you can choose a shoe that is designed for your type and narrow it down from there
Reply:Try Brooks or Asics. I also like to wear Adidas on runs occasionally but usually not for heavy training. I like the Climacools. Nike has a good marketing department.
