Positive thinking ... the secret?

back in octbr i watched the movie %26quot;the secret%26quot; and fell in love with the idea and concept of the %26quot;laws of attraction%26quot;.At first i tried to apply it and i felt good for the most part. but it becomes difficult to apply it 24/7, im 22 %26amp; i suffer from mild depression where i had to begin taking prozac about 2 weeks ago, but my mind is constantly racing with thoughts... mostly negative.how can i continuously feel good and happy when these thoughts come to my mind? i want to begin self cure! and eventually get off that medication ... i really dont have any BIG issues just that some days i wake up really sad or upset. and unfortunately i let the small things get to me ... im a very emotional person ... it%26#039;s been years comming i just never saw myself taking meds for what i thought were normal feelings until i realized how it was affecting my relationship with those around me such as my boyfriend... i would appreciate any tips from anyone who have been in my shoes in some point in their live

Positive thinking ... the secret?
When you have the negative thoughts.

Practice just being aware of them without trying to make them go away.

For example: You wake up and feel sad or have negative thoughts. Say to yourself, %26quot;I%26#039;m aware that I am having negative thoughts.%26quot; or %26quot;I%26#039;m aware that I am having sad thoughts%26quot;

Just by practicing this %26#039;mindfulness%26#039; technique will help a lot.

It%26#039;s possible that you need to get into a good fitness %26amp; diet plan and maybe that will help you to get off the meds.

Here are some good ideas:

1. Do something that gets your heart rate up a bit like, walking, running, biking, and swimming.

2. Eat Whole, Organic foods like: Broccoli, Cabbage, Organic Brown Rice, Beans, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Apples, and other fruits and vegetables in their Natural State.

3. Avoid eating corn, white bread, white rice, white potatoes, candy, sodas, chips, and anything else that you already know you shouldn’t be eating.

4. Drink clean water as your beverage of choice. Avoid Fruit drinks and fruit juices (unless YOU juice them yourself)

5. Stop smoking, drinking beer %26amp; wine, and drinking coffee.

6. Get 8 hours of sleep each night.

7. Hang out with people who want to be healthy.

8. Avoid anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup.

9. Look into taking a multi-vitamin.

Tone up the muscles:

1. Join a gym and get a trainer.

2. If you’re short on cash, start a light stretching %26amp; yoga regimen.

3. Do push-ups, and light dumbbell curls for the upper body.

4. As I said above, walk, run, swim, and or bike

5. Take an aerobics class, a yoga class, or some other fitness class.

6. Join the local YMCA.

7. Buy or borrow this book by Bill Pearl called GETTING STRONGER.

In the book, he describes everything you need for a great fitness plan.

8. Crunches %26amp; Curl ups for the abs.

Mental Health:

1. Get a friend to talk to each day about your feelings.

2. If you have some money or insurance, get a counselor to talk to.

3. Learn how to meditate.

4. Join a support group for the issue you’re dealing with.

5. Ask your Higher Self (or God) for guidance.

6. Start keeping a diary or journal about your feelings %26amp; thoughts.

7. Write a ‘gratitude’ list every night.

8. Do something that makes you happy each day like: listen to your favorite music, draw, paint, write, or anything creative.

9. Do something for someone else who needs help.

10. If the above suggestions don%26#039;t improve your mental health, talk with your therapist about the possibility of taking some medication.

11. Check out the book FEELING GOOD by David Burns.
Reply:im a very emotional person too, and sometimes i let my emotions get the best of me. There are times when I just fill my head with negative irrational thoughts without really thinking it out and taking it slowly. As cliche as it sounds, feeling good starts within yourself. It wont happen over night, it takes time, but you will get there. Start by doing things that make you happy or make you feel good. For example, i started eating healthy and exercising. It gave me something to work on and a goal to look forward to. I too sometimes just wake up with feelings of anxiousness and sadness and i dont even know the reason most of the time so my negative thoughts force me to make up some reason, which then leads to conflict with those around me i.e. friends, boyfriend. Anyway, you can only think positive things in general, if u think positive things about yourself. Take a deep breathe before you start thinking negative thoughts, say to yourself %26quot;are these logical negative thoughts? do i have a reason to be thinking this right now?%26quot; Give some alone time to yourself and relax. Letting the small things get to you comes from a lack of self affirmation and confidence. If you feel good and positive about yourself, no small things can get to you, try working on making yourself a tougher individual, at least that is what has helped me somewhat. Like i said it takes time, but youll get there. Feel better
